SAVE THE CORSICA RIVER, ONE RAIN BARREL AT A TIME

A rain barrel is a water tank positioned at a downspout to collect water and used to water plants or attach to a soaking hose to water a garden. Rain barrels are not meant for drinking.

The Town of Centreville offered rain barrels at a substantially reduced cost to citizens within the Corsica River Watershed. In order to receive a rain barrel, it was mandatory to attend a rain barrel workshop to be educated on the installation and use of the rain barrel. The workshop was held on April 27, 2011. The rain barrel must be placed on property within the Corsica River Watershed. A photo of the completed installation must be submitted.

Funding for the rain barrel distribution was made available from the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays 2010 Trust Fund.

Additional rain barrels are available and will be offered at the Corsica River Awareness Day on September 17, 2011. More information to follow.
